Haelan Integrated Healthcare is the leading outpatient medical care provider in Bulgaria, delivering integrated medical and social care services with a strong focus on prevention, prophylaxis, and innovative programs for chronic disease management. With outpatient centers in Sofia, Varna and Burgas, a Pediatric Consultative Clinic, hospital care facilities, home care and elderly care services, Haelan is on a mission to become Bulgaria’s leading integrated healthcare provider within the next five years.
The Group is opening an opportunity for an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to drive excellence across all financial functions and support our long-term business strategy.
Key Focus and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
• Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives and growth plans.
• Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, the executive team and the shareholders, providing financial insight and data-driven recommendations for decision-making.
• Lead financial planning initiatives, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modelling.
Financial Operations & Controls:
• Oversee all day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, treasury, cash flow, tax, and reporting functions.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and standards.
• Restructure and optimize the finance function to improve accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.
Cash Flow & Capital Management:
• Ensure highly effective cash flow management with a focus on flexibility and responsiveness, particularly given the company’s reliance on national and private health insurance systems.
• Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and external stakeholders to support liquidity and capital needs.
• Support fundraising, investment, and PE reporting efforts when required.
Business Partnering & Cross-Functional Support:
• Collaborate closely with other departments (e.g., operations, commercial, HR, IT) to ensure financial alignment and support strategic initiatives.
• Provide financial leadership in cross-functional projects, including pricing, cost optimization, and margin improvement.
Team Leadership & Development:
• Inspire, manage, and develop the existing finance team, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, and accountability.
• Promote a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the finance function.
• Organise the team efficiently and implement rotations and training to enhance skills.
Process Improvement & Change Management:
• Drive transformation of outdated or inefficient processes, implementing new systems and tools as needed.
• Lead process upgrades and structural improvements to ensure scalability and sustainability of financial operations.
PE Reporting & Investor Relations:
• Serve as the key point of contact for PE stakeholders and provide timely, accurate financial reporting and business insights.
• Align reporting with investor expectations and support due diligence and valuation processes when applicable.
In respect of the ideal candidate profile:
• 10–15 years of work experience in complex and sizeable organizations, particularly in services, and/or production of any sort.
• In-depth understanding of cost-based financing models
• Solid cash flow management experience with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach
• Someone who can thrive in a PE environment, rather than a traditional finance professional accustomed to highly structured multinational corporations.
• A hardworking, high-energy, and hands-on individual who can roll up sleeves and engage in operational work, when needed.
• A proactive and motivational leader who can guide a capable team through change, process enhancement and implementation of a sound financial structure.
• A collaborative team player who works effectively across departments.
• Communicative, outgoing, bold, and ambitious.
• Resilient and unfazed by initial disorganization, capable of bringing clarity and structure amidst complexity.
• Relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA, CFA or CPA are a plus.
• A strong foundation in accounting is essential; candidates with Big 4 background are especially well-suited.
