Centre for the treatment of difficult-to-heal and chronic wounds

“Every wound has a story — we help it heal.” At the Center for the Treatment of Hard-to-Heal Wounds, we combine medical expertise, scientific innovation and holistic patient care. Our goal is not just to treat the wound, but to understand its cause — because that is where the key to successful healing lies. The difference in our approach is clear: We look for the etiology — why the wound does not close — and manage the accompanying diseases that interfere with treatment. We work with a multidisciplinary team and provide the necessary consultations with specialists in endocrinology, cardiology, nephrology and vascular medicine when the condition requires it. The focus is on comprehensive patient care — stabilization of chronic diseases, refinement of therapy, as well as correction of vitamin, mineral and micronutrient deficiencies, which often delay recovery.

What is the treatment of chronic wounds and why is it important?

Chronic wound treatment is a medical specialty that includes the diagnosis, therapy, and follow-up of wounds that do not heal normally. This includes: diabetic foot, venous and arterial ulcers, decubital wounds, trauma, burns and wounds after oncological treatment.

Correct and timely intervention is essential because chronic wounds can lead to infections, tissue loss, pain and even amputations. Our team works both for the active treatment of existing wounds and for the prevention of complications through individual care and modern therapies.

How is the examination going?

The examination begins with a conversation, during which the doctor gets acquainted with your medical history, features of the wound, previous treatment and general health condition.

This is followed by a physical examination and evaluation of the wound through measurement, photographs and determination of the healing stage.

Self-dressing training: Patients are trained on a standardized Helix protocol for performing self-dressings at home.

Monitoring and follow-up: Regular follow-up visits for evaluation and replacement of dressings, as well as online consultations on photographic material, are carried out in patients who are caring for their wounds on their own.

Specialized tests

Evaluation of blood circulation in venous and arterial ulcers

Imaging Diagnostics

Ultrasound, if necessary MRI or CT of limbs

Laboratory studies

Blood, microbiological analysis of secretions
